BackBeat is a music festival located in coastal Norway, in Kopervik on the island of Karmøy, between Bergen and Stavanger.

The organization BackBeat was founded in 2004 and is based on 60’s and 70’s beat, rock and blues music. The very first festival was arranged in May 2005, and it was a huge success. The artists were all local, popular musicians from the sixties.

The concerts 2006 will be held on Friday and Saturday, the 2nd and 3rd of June. The main attraction is The Pussycats, the most famous Norwegian group in the 1960’s. They had hits like Ebb Tide, Cadillac and Just a Little Teardrop.

Moreover, the BackBeat festival will present Danny & The Red Hots (rock’a’billy music), The Rolling Clones (songs by The Rolling Stones), Det Betales (songs by The Beatles) as well as The Zanies and The Five Beats (oldies in general). All the groups playing are Norwegian.

Festival time is Friday/Saturday 2nd/3rd of June : 1930 – 0200 in Festplassen, Kopervik.
